Moving those large appliances
You have decided how you will move your belongings to your new Northeast Fl residence and when the move will occur. Let us discuss how to handle some of those harder to handle items you may need to move into your new
Large appliances can be a difficult thing to ‘pack,’ but there is a way to do everything. A big appliance is something like a refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, and dryers.
Getting the Stove and Dishwasher ready to move:
Moving large appliances can be a challenge because of their size, but the actual preparation is not very difficult at all. To prepare a stove for shipment, clean the oven and stovetop. The oven racks should be put on the bottom of the oven and taped down. Each burner protective pan should be taped down. Tape the electrical cord and the door to the stove, and tie a furniture pad around the outside.
To move a dishwasher, take any dishes out and tape all the racks and silverware baskets down. Check the owner’s manual for instructions about how to unhook the water line. Make sure the dishwasher is drained of any water. Lock and close the door followed by taping it closed. The cord and hose should be taped to the dishwasher. Take a large furniture pad, and tie it around the dishwasher.
Packing your Washer and Dryer
Before you even begin packing, read the owner’s manual for each appliance. To pack large appliance, you will need large pads, rope, towels, linens, clothes, or stuffed animals, tape, and baking soda. Before packing a washing machine, be sure you have done all of your laundry a few days before the move. If is possible, tip the washer outside to get any water out. Put all the fittings and accessories in a plastic bag. Place towels between the washing machine sides to prevent the tub from spinning. Put clothes, linens, stuffed animals in the basket. A box of baking soda in the top will cut down on mildew. Finally, tape the lid and electrical cord down. Tie a large pad around the outside, and your washing machine is ready to go! A dryer requires you to disconnect the exhaust hose and the exhaust duct. Roll the hose loosely and put it in the dryer. The lint screen, dryer door, and electrical cord should be taped down. Tie a large pad around the outside, and your dryer is ready to go, too!
Packing your Refrigerator
If you decided to move your refrigerator, there are some guidelines to follow. A refrigerator should be prepared for the move one day ahead of time. Empty everything out and defrost it. The drainage pan underneath should be emptied and the ice maker should be drained. Wipe the drawers, shelves, and walls. Check the manual to see if your refrigerator has rollers that come out to make the refrigerator even. Wrap the shelves and tape them together. Any loose parts should be taped. A large pad should be tied about the perimeter of the refrigerator, and it is ready for the big move.
If you will be using a professional mover, they may do all of the above preparation for you. This should be discussed with the mover when you contract with them to move your belongings. Take your time planning your move into your new greater
