Lake Shore is a family community with both modest residences and waterfront homes. The neighborhood stretches back from the shores of the Cedar, Ortega and St. Johns Rivers. The area was developed mainly after the Jacksonville Naval Air Station boom in the 1940s. Blanding Boulevard, Cassat Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard all cross the area. These major roads make access to shopping at Roosevelt Square, dining, the river and downtown very accessible.
Some of the neighborhood schools are Bayview Elementary and Lake Shore Middle School. Visit http://schoolperformancemaps.com/fl/ for the link to Florida School Performances.
Major renovations are occurring in this west Jacksonville residential community. Lake Shore is a 1942 building that had almost $13 million of renovations done in 1999. A $2.9 million Better Jacksonville Plan will be enacted to help with drainage problems. An excellent community location to raise a family.
