Activists told a Wednesday news conference that lenders are misleading many borrowers in the sub-prime market who are unable to pay when expensive terms of the loan take effect. These same activists oppose the eviction of those who are delinquent on payments of high-risk mortgages with questionable terms; stating that mortgage debt is forcing people to take unnecessary measures such as working second jobs. A six-month moratorium on foreclosures is being urged by a coalition of groups to be adopted leaders.
The sub-prime market is where most of the damage takes place, since African-Americans and Latinos make up a large portion of these mortgages
