The condition of your home’s exterior is critical to how a buyer views the property. When selling your Jacksonville home steps, porches, verandas, patios, and balconies should be kept uncluttered, swept and in great condition. Entrance doors should be painted. Awnings and shades should be in good condition. If the color is dull, replace them. An outside living and or dining area with furniture and plants makes a very welcoming outdoor atmosphere. Emphasize your pool area, water garden, lighting, benches, planters, and flowering plants. If you are showing your home during the day and have a decorative yard lighting system, take nighttime pictures. Also, pictures of what your mature, flowering landscape looks like later in the season. These pictures should be shown in your home. All exterior accessories, such as door knobs, knockers, lamps, mail boxes, and address numbers, should be shined and cleaned. Gutters and downspouts should be cleaned, repaired, and painted if needed.
The roof should be in excellent condition. All roof shingles or tiles should be secured or replaced. Fix any leaky spots on the roof. The garage door should open easily. If it does not, you should have it fixed. The chimney should be painted and broken bricks and stones should be replaced. Painting the exterior of your home is a great investment to make. It may decide whether the potential buyer becomes the buyer.
