We have all seen the signs with the saying “For Sale by Owner (FSBO).” While some people may succeed at selling without a real estate agent, there are some drawbacks to listing your home as FSBO. First off, FSBOs cannot utilize the Multiple Listing Service Jacksonville Florida (MLS). The MLS requires membership in their organization and are open only to licensed real estate agents and brokers. Even though the seller can use some marketing techniques, the home will not receive nearly as much exposure as it would through the MLS.  Another disadvantage for FSBO is agents will not show their home. This eliminates much of the home’s exposure to potential buyers. Many people selling their house by owners will overprice their home.  Most people think their home is worth more than comparable homes in the same neighborhood. This is usually not the case, and over pricing is a major put off to not only first-time home buyers but also those looking for a second residence.
